Zhang Hanlin’s Research Findings Have Been Adopted by the Governmentas Policy Reference
Recently, the first interim outcome of a major Guangzhou municipal research project—A Study on Strategic Pathways for Guangzhou to Build a Southern Energy Cooperation Hub Linking ASEAN (2026 GZYB01)—chaired by Professor Zhang Hanlin, Executive President of SCBC and Dean of the Institute of Area Studies, was submitted to municipal leaders via an internal reference report from the Guangzhou Association of Social Science Societies and has been adopted. Building on Guangzhou’s strengths, the report proposes the establishment of the China (Guangzhou)–ASEAN Southern Energy Cooperation Hub and offers corresponding development recommendations. This achievement marks the project’s entry into a phase of substantive output and provides decision-making guidance for Guangzhou’s efforts to advance its opening-up initiatives. Zhang Hanlin stated that his team will deepen its research in the future, continue to produce high-quality advisory outcomes, and provide intellectual support for Guangzhou’s role as a bridge for energy cooperation with ASEAN.
Wang Guanyi Outlines Four Key Priorities for Summer Research Work
On July 1, SCBC held a mobilization meeting for summer research work, attended by Vice President Wang Guanyi.
At the meeting, he reviewed the outstanding research achievements from the first half of the year: SCBC completed more than 50 rounds of project applications at various levels, two policy advisory reports received comments from national leaders, and the university won the Provincial Award for Outstanding Achievements in the Social Sciences. The university’s ranking in the national research competitiveness rankings for independent colleges rose significantly, placing 5th in the humanities and social sciences and 38th in the natural sciences.
Wang Guanyi acknowledged the achievements of the first half of the year, noting that this year is designated as the “Year of Research System Development.” However, he pointed out that there remains development pressure when measured against the goals of applying for master’s degree-granting status and the “15th Five-Year Plan” objectives. He then outlined four key summer priorities: making full use of the summer vacation period to actively pursue project applications; forming teams to advance organized research efforts; deepening industry-education integration through university-local government and university-enterprise cooperation, and mobilizing the entire university community to make a final push toward annual research goals and build distinctive academic strengths.
SCBC Wins Grand Prize and Over Ten Other Awards in the Provincial Triple Creation Competition
The Guangdong Provincial Qualifying Round of the 16th National College Students’ E-Commerce “Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship” Challenge (the Triple Creation Competition, or TCC) has successfully concluded. SCBC won more than ten awards in total; the project “Nonglian Zhihui—An E-Commerce Ecosystem Platform for Agricultural Markets Based on Digital and Intelligent Technologies”took home the Grand Prize in the provincial competition, and SCBC was awarded the Outstanding Organization Award, setting a new record forthe best overall performance in the university’s history. Preparations for this competition spanned nearly nine months. Students from multiple schools on campus enthusiastically participated, and teams were formed in collaboration with students from several other universities. Under the joint guidance of faculty members and industry mentors, the teams refined their projects through repeated iterations. TCC is an authoritative national innovation and entrepreneurship academic competition guided by the Ministry of Education, known for its broad scope and high prestige. These outstanding results represent a significant achievement in our university’s implementation of the philosophy of “promoting learning, teaching, and innovation through competitions,” the development of a “curriculum—practice—competition—incubation” education system, and the deepening of industry-education integration. They fully demonstrate the effectiveness of our university’s innovation and entrepreneurship education and the innovative capabilities of our students.
SCBC Teachers Win Second and Third Prizes in the “SFLEP Cup” Research Paper Competition
The results of the 2nd “SFLEP Cup” National College Foreign Language Teachers’ Teaching and Research Paper Competition have been announced. Yao Yuanchen and Fan Aoyu, teachers from the Department of College English Teaching of SCBC, won the Second Prizeand Third Prize, respectively. This marks the second consecutive year that the Department of College English Teaching has won awards in this national competition.
This year’s competition covered 341 universities and received 434 papers. Focusing on eight major areas, including AI-enabled foreign language teaching, the competition was fiercely contested, featuring fourrounds of anonymous evaluation. Yao Yuanchen’s paper explored AI-enabled digital storytelling in second language teaching, while Fan Aoyu’s research focused on the unique value of teachers’ emotional support in the intelligent era. Both studies demonstrate significant value in cutting-edge research.
SCBC Teacher Li Yang Wins the National Grand Prize in the 2026 FLTRP Star Teacher Contest
Recently, the 2026 FLTRP Star Teacher Contest (Multilingual Category) came to a close. Li Yang, a teacher from the Russian Department of the School of Western Languages and Cultures at SCBC, won the sole Grand Prize in the Russian Public Foreign Language category, becoming the only teacher from a private university to receive this honor in this year’s competition.
This contest, jointly organized by the National Research Center for Foreign Language Education at Beijing Foreign Studies University and Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP), is a highly influential foreign language teaching competition in China. It focuses on teachers’ teaching design, classroom implementation, and digital teaching capabilities.
In the competition, Li Yang presented the course “A Journey to the Countryside,” applying the Production-Oriented Approach (POA) in teaching design and incorporating digital teaching tools. Students were guided to tell stories of China’s rural development in Russian, earning high praise from the judges.
This awardfully demonstrates SCBC’s achievements in foreign language teaching, teaching reform, and faculty development, further enhancing the university’s influence in the field of multilingual education nationwide.
President Wang Hua Invited to Attend and Chair the Annual Academic Conference of China Business Accounting Institute
From July 25 to 26, the 2026 Annual Academic Conference of China Business Accounting Institute was held in Harbin under the theme “Digital and Intelligent Empowerment, Independent Innovation: Building an Intelligent Accounting Knowledge System with Chinese Characteristics.” More than 400 experts, scholars, and industry representatives from thefinance and accounting fields nationwide attended the conference. Professor Wang Hua, President of SCBC, was invited to attend the conference and serve as a moderator, accompanied by Li Yanqin.
The conference featured discussions on such hot topics as intelligent accounting, digital auditing, digital transformation in finance, and reformsin accounting and finance education, along with multiple forums. President Wang Hua engaged in in-depth exchanges with participating experts, sharing SCBC’s experience in intelligent accounting program development and talent cultivation, and exploring the future development of accounting disciplines in the digital era.
The conference provided a platform for exchange among universities, research institutions, and industry professionals, while offering new insights into the development of intelligent accounting and innovation in accounting and finance education.
