SCBC Holds the First Teacher Education Cultural Festival with Arts Curriculum Teaching Gala


On June 16, the closing ceremony of the School of Education’s First Teacher Education Cultural Festival and the Arts Curriculum Teaching Showcase was successfully held at the Black Box Theater of SCBC. University leaders in attendance included Chairman Ding Xiaojun, Secretary of the University Party Committee Xu Zhichao, Executive Presidents Wang Mingyu and Zhang Hanlin, and Vice Presidents Wang Guanyi, Zeng Yongqiang, Lai Zhili, and Guo Guihang, and Assistant to the President Zhu Zijang. External leaders included Xiao Guobiao, Principal of Panlong Primary School; Zeng Xiangguang, Principal of Liangtian No. 2 Primary School; Dong Chunhua, Principal of Liangtian No. 1 Kindergarten. Also in attendance were; as well as heads of various schools, teaching departments, and administrative units of SCBC, along with faculty and student representatives from the School of Education, who gathered at the venue to witness the students’the energy and enthusiasm youthful vitality. The event featured Featuring a diverse array of performances—including vocal music, dance, piano, and dramatic skits—as well as 13 meticulously crafted acts, including vocal music, dance, piano performances, and dramatic skits, this grand event fully showcasinged the academic achievements of the School of Education’s students and the educational impact of its arts curriculum.




SCBC Holds 2026 Pre-Ddeparture Oorientation Mmeeting for Outbound Exchange Sstudents exchanging to Ddomestic Ppartner Uuniversities


On the afternoon of June 18, SCBC held a pre-departure orientation session in the International Academic Lecture Hall for students participating in the 2026 exchange program at domestic partner universities. Eighty-four outstanding students, selected through arigorous screening process, are about to embark on a one-year or one-semester inter-university study program at six domestic partner institutions. President Wang Hua, Executive President Wang Mingyu,Vice President Lai Zhili, and Assistant to the Presidents Yu Weibin and Zhu Zijang, along with faculty representatives from various administrative departments and faculty members schools, attended themeeting to clarify the exchange arrangements, reinforce management requirements, and convey their earnest expectations to the students.


SCBC Chairman Ding Xiaojun Leads Delegation Pays Home  to Visits to the Founding Members Deans of SCBC and Extends Invitations to the30th Anniversary Celebration


November 28, 2026, marks the 30th anniversary of SCBC’s founding, and preparations for the celebration are proceeding steadily. On the eve of the Dragon Boat Festival, Chairman Ding Xiaojun and Vice President Lai Zhili led a delegation from the Labor Union on a special visit to Wu Changxin and Peng Zhifang, two founding pioneers of SCBC. They presented them with Dragon Boat Festival greetings and anniversary commemorative gifts, reminisced with the elders about the early days of the university, reported on the progress of the anniversary preparations, and extended a sincere invitation for them to return to campus to participate in the anniversary celebrations.

Ding Xiaojun said with deep emotion that SCBC’s current well-rounded academic structure and thriving educational endeavors would not have been possible without the solid foundation laid by the two former deans in the university’searly yearsback in the day. The selfless dedication and hard work ofthe older generation—who built the university through practical action without regard for personal gain—will forever be remembered in the hearts of all faculty and students. Vice President Lai Zhilì added that these veteran leaders have been both witnesses and founders of SCBC’s journey, leaving behind a richlegacy of educational experience and spiritual wealth. He affirmedthat all faculty and staff will carry forward the predecessors’original aspirations and mission of hard work and moral education, continuing to strive forward to propel the university’s development to new heights.

Deeply moved by these words, the two former deans expressed their heartfelt gratitude that SCBC has consistently kept the older generation of builders in mind and made a special trip to visit them, filling their hearts with warmth. Witnessing the university’s leapfrog development remarkable growth over the past thirty years, they felt immense satisfaction. They shared their insights on education andtalent cultivation gained over the years and sincerely wished for the university a successful’s 30th anniversary celebration to be acomplete success, with its educational endeavors moving steadily forward and reaching new heights.


SCBC Students AchievesOutstanding Results in the “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” “Understanding Contemporary China” Foreign Language Competition


The 2026 “FLTRP•·.ETIC Cup ‘“Understanding Contemporary China’” Foreign Language Competition (Multilingual Division) successfully concluded on May 30. The participating students from SCBC’s Department of Russian competed with great determination, standing outamong contestants from numerous universities nationwide. They won one Grand Prize, one Second Prize, and two Third Prizes, fully demonstrating the solid quality of talent cultivation in our university’s Russian language program and the students’excellent comprehensive foreign language proficiency.

Focusing on language application, understanding of contemporary China, and the development of international communication skills, this competition attracted widespread attention and active participation from faculty and students at universities across the country, providing a high-level platform for competition and exchange among multilingual young students.


SCBC Researcher Luo Ying Attends the 8th Academic Symposium on Arctic Navigation Safety and Sustainable Development


On June 12, the 8th Academic Symposium on Arctic Navigation Safety and Sustainable Development was held at the Lingshui International Conference Hall of Dalian Maritime University (DLMU). The symposium was jointly guided by the Dalian Municipal People’s Government, China COSCO Shipping CorporationLimited Company, and Dalian Maritime University, and co-hosted by DLMU’s National Institute for Marine Governance and Developmentand the Institute for Polar Shipping and Safety. Researcher Luo Ying, Deputy Dean of SCBC’s Institute of Area Studies and Deputy Director of the Center of Polar Issues Studies, was invited to Dalian to attend the Conference and delivered a keynote speech.

At the conference, Researcher Luo Ying presented a research report titled “Regulatory Systems for the Use of Green Energy in Arctic Shipping.” Grounded in the national polar development strategy, the report explores how to balances ecological security with the sustainable development of shipping, offering both theoretical value and practical guidance.



SCBC Students Win Bronze Medal at the 28th “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” National English Debate Competition


On May 30–31, the national finals of the 28th “FLTRP·ETICCup” National  English Debatingeing Competition successfully concluded. Following rigorous selection rounds across the four regional divisions—East China, South China, West China, andNorth China—a total of 184 top teams from across the country advanced to the national finals, where outstanding debaters from over100 universities competed on the same stage in a battle for supremacy. The finals featured a tight schedule, with eight rounds ofhigh-intensity round-robin debates, posing a significant challenge tothe participants’ mental resilience and comprehensive critical thinking skills. Under the dedicated guidance of teachers Li Mengxiand Cao Hongrui, Yang Lan (Class of 2023, Normal English ExcellenceEnglish Teacher Training Program Class) and Wu Jiaxin (Class of 2024, Business English Class 2) from SCBC successfully advanced through the fiercely competitive South China regional qualifiers and ultimatelywon the bronze medal at the national finals.


SCBC Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates


Recently, SCBC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. According to the terms of thememorandum, both parties will collaborate in areas such as student exchangesmobility programs, language learning, and academic exchanges. This will further expand our university’s channels for exchange and cooperation with universities in the UAE and the broader Arab countries region, while also establishing a new platformfor students majoring in Arabic at SCBC to study abroad, enhance their practical language skills, and broaden their international perspectives.




SCBC Students Win Five Awards in the Global Promoters of Chinese Culture Competition


Recently, the results of th efirst Global Promoters of Chinese Culture Competition were announced.The contestants from SCBC contestants, selected by the SCBC College English Teaching Department, achieved outstanding results, winning atotal of five awards—including two third-place national awards, one second-place regional award, and two third-place regional awards.They stood out among the many participating universities nationwide,fully demonstrating the strong comprehensive English proficiency andpositive, upward-looking ambitious spirit of SCBC students.

This competition was jointly organized by the China Association of International Trade and Hainan University, and hosted by the Training Department of the China Society for International Trade, the Hainan University Institute for the Mutual Learning of Chinese Wisdom andCivilization, and Yue Tu Culture Group Co., Ltd., with strong support from multiple university libraries, foreign language departments, and related units across the country. Grounded in the practical needs of international business settings in the new era, the competition aimsto explore the deep integration of commercial exchange and cultural dissemination, and to cultivate well-rounded professionals who possess both cultural literacy and international business capabilities.



SCBC Researcher Luo Ying Attends the “Polar Governance and China’s Solutions”Symposium


OnJune 24, the “Polar Governance and China’s Solutions”symposium, hosted by the Chinesea Society of the Law of the Sea and co-organized by the Qingdao Collaborative Mechanism for Maritime Rule of Law and the Qingdao Collaborative Mechanism for Innovative Training of Foreign-Related Legal Talent, was grandly convened in Qingdao. The conference aimed to thoroughly implement the Party Central Committee’s the decisions and arrangements plans  madeby the CPC Central Committee regarding polar affairs, explore polar governance solutions with Chinese characteristics, and provide strong theoretical support for China’s Antarctic legislation and the development of its polar endeavors. Researcher Luo Ying, Deputy Dean of SCBC’s Institute of Area Studies and researcher of the Center of Polar Issues Studies, was invited to attend the conferencein Qingdao and delivered a presentation titled “Regulatory Systems for the Use of Green Energy in Arctic Shipping.”
