SCBC Students Win Gold and Silver Medals at the South China Regional “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” English Debate Competition
Recently, the South China Regional Semifinals of the 28th “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” National English Debating Competition successfully concluded. After five rounds of round-robin matches and a fierce final, SCBC students delivered an outstanding performance, securing one gold and one silver medal. Among them, YangLan (Class of 2023, English Education major) and Wu Jiaxin (Class of 2024, Business English major) from SCBC English Debate Society (advisors: Li Mengxi and Cao Hongrui) won the gold medal in the South China Regional Competition and successfully advanced to the national finals; Yang Shiyu (Class of 2024, Japanese major) and Ou En Tong (Class of 2025, Applied Psychology) (Advisor: Xia Jiajia) , assigned by SCBC College English Teaching Department and the College English Community Debate Team, won the Silver Award in the South China Regional Competition.
SCBC Professor Li Huanrong Makes a keynote Speech at the National Annual Conference on Teaching Supervision
On May 9–10, the 19th Academic Conference on Teaching Supervision, Evaluation, and Quality Assurance System Operations in Higher Education, as well as the Forum on the 15th Five-Year Plan and High-Quality Development in Education, was grandly held in Guangzhou. The event was organized by the Chinese Network of Internal Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (CIQA) and hosted by Southern Medical University. More than 500 representatives, including leaders, experts, and scholars from over 200 universities across the country, gathered to discuss key issues such as the development of world-class universities, the construction of education quality assurance systems in the new era, AI-driven digital transformation, and the quality culture construction. Professor Li Huanrong, Director of the Center for Teaching Quality Supervision and Evaluation of SCBC, and Professor Zhao Ruijie, professor of the center, were invited to attend the conference.
At the workshop themed “Innovative Pathways for Digital and Intelligent Supervision to Empower Teacher Development,” Professor Li Huanrong delivered a keynote speech titled “The Construction and Practice of an Index-Based Monitoring and Evaluation System for Undergraduate Education Quality in Higher Education Institutions.” He introduced our university’s efforts in developing undergraduate education and teaching quality indices for secondary schools from four perspectives: research background, research focus, implementation practices, and outcomes. His presentation was well-received by attending experts and colleagues, further expanding our university’s influence in the reform of undergraduate education and teaching quality evaluation.
Eight Student Teams of SCBC Achieve Outstanding Results in the “ChiaTai Cup” Provincial Competition
Recently, The 16th "Chia Tai Cup" National College Students Market Survey and Analysis Competition – Guangdong Regional Selection successfully concluded. Eight student teams from our university’s School of Management and School of Aviation Economics and Engineering competed with great determination and lived up to expectations, achieving outstanding results in the competition. They collectively won one first prize, one second prize, and six third prizes in the Guangdong provincial competition, fully demonstrating our students’ solid professional competence and outstanding practical and innovative abilities.
SCBC Students Win Two First Prizes at the Provincial Round of the National English Competition for College Students
On May 10, the 2026 National English Competition for College Students (NECCS) Guangdong Provincial Round final were held at the Guangzhou Campus of Guangdong University of Finance and Economics. A total of 387 students from SCBC enthusiastically participated in the competition and won 2 first prizes, 12 second prizes, and 20 third prizes, setting new record both the level of awards and the number of winners and fully demonstrating the solid achievements of our university’s English teaching and talent development.
SCBC Teacher Wins First Prize in the FLTRP Star Teacher Contest
Recently, the results of the semi-finals for the 2026 FLTRP Star Teacher Contest were officially announced. Associate Professor Li Yang, Head of the Russian Department at the School of Western Languages and Culture of SCBC, stood out in the Russian of General Foreign Language category thanks to his solid teaching skills, innovative teaching design, and outstanding on-site performance. He won first prize in the semi-finals and has successfully advanced to the national finals.
SCBC Teachers Win Multiple Awards at the Provincial University Teaching Innovation Competition
Recently, the 6th National University Teaching Innovation Competition (Guangdong Regional Contest), which also served as the Guangdong Provincial University Teaching Innovation Competition, came to a close. In this competition, SCBC faculty members performed outstandingly, not only acheiving a zero breakthrough of provincial first prize but also receiving two more awards than the previous contest.
Ou Jie and the course “Intermediate Financial Accounting” from the School of Management won the first prize in the “New Liberal Arts” category (intermediate level and below) of the New Faculty Track. The team led by Chen Yuan from College English Teaching Department (Huang Qingmei, Deng Cuiting, Wang Ruiying) and the course “Overview of Chinese Culture (in English)” won the second prize in the “Course Philosophy” category (intermediate level and below). The course “Design and Implementation of Preschool Educational Activities”, submitted by the team led by Chen Zhixiu (Weng Lin, Wang Sheng, Zhou Yu) from the School of Education, won the second prize in the Local Universities Group for Industry-Education Integration; the course “Insurance (Bilingual)”, submitted by the team led by Dang Xue (Xu Hao,Wen Juanxiu, Zhou Yongguang) from the School of Aviation Economics and Engineering, received the excellence award in the Associate Professor Group of the New Liberal Arts category.
