SCBC Holds a Report Meeting on the Undergraduate Education Quality Index
On the afternoon of April 23, SCBC held the 2024–2025 Academic Year Undergraduate Education and Teaching Quality Index Report Meeting in the International Academic Lecture Hall. The meeting, chaired by Vice President Zeng Yongqiang, was attended by university leaders, heads of academic departments, academic leaders, and officials from relevant administrative departments. During the meeting, the Teaching Quality Index Report was released, strengths and weaknesses were analyzed, key tasks for teaching reform were outlined, and three schools, including the School of Management, the School of Western Languages and Culture, and the School of Eastern Languages and Culture, were recognized as outstanding units for undergraduate education and teaching quality.
SCBC Vice President Lai Zhilin visits Wuhan University of Bioengineering
To learn from and draw inspiration from the innovative practices of peer institutions in campus land use, further optimize SCBC’s campusl and planning, and deepen the integration of industry and education,Vice President Lai Zhilin led a delegation comprising relevant officials from the Office of Infrastructure and the International College on a visit to Wuhan University of Bioengineering (WUB) on April 23. Qiu Jianzhou, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of WUB, along with heads of relevant departments, warmly received the delegation. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as innovative models for campus land use.

SCBC Holds Evaluation Meeting for the Fourth Batch of University-level Research and Innovation Teams
On the afternoon of April 23, SCBC held the final evaluation meeting for the fourth batch of university-level research and innovation teams in Conference Room 309 of the Administration Building, where 11 university-level scientific research and innovation teams underwent acomprehensive evaluation. The purpose of this meeting was to comprehensively summarize the achievements of the scientific research and innovation team development initiative, deepen the reform of “organized scientific research,” and promote the in-depth integration of industry, academia, and research. Executive President Zhang Hanlin and Vice President Wang Guanyi attended the meeting. Apanel of external experts was specially invited to provide consultation and guidance, comprising Professor Zhong Zhijin from SunYat-sen University, Professor Zhong Shuneng from South China University of Technology, and Professor Ma Chijie from Guangdong University of Finance and Economics.
The School of Culture and Communication Holds a Signing Ceremony with Bai Long Holdings Group
To deepen the integration of industry and education, precisely meet the talent needs of the live-streaming e-commerce industry, and broadenstudents’ internship and employment opportunities, on the morning of April 24, the School of Culture and Communication of SCBC held a signing ceremony for a university-enterprise cooperation agreement and a plaque-unveiling ceremony for the “SCBC Practical Teaching and Employment Base” with Bai Long Holdings (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. SCBC Vice Presidents Wang Guanyi and ZengYongqiang, along with the head and faculty representatives of the School of Culture and Communication, as well as faculty representatives from the School of Economics, attended the ceremony. Also present were Kuang Xiuman, Chairwoman of Bai Long Holdings; Zhang Yuting, Vice Chairwoman; and Chen Shunhua, General Manager.

SCBC Students win Prizes at NMBTC
Recently, the 2026 National Multilingual Business Translation Competition (NMBTC) successfully concluded. Under the careful guidance of their instructors, SCBC students delivered outstanding performances, winning a total of one first prize and eight third prizes. Amongthem, Ji Zihan from the Spanish Minor Program (Class 4, ChineseLanguage and Literature, Class of 2024) won the First Prize, while Lin Shiling, Jiang Zhiyue, Liu Yuguo, Chen Qixin, Shu Zeman, He Murong, Chen Xiaoya, and Yang Haoran received Third Prizes. Li Xiang, a faculty member from the Department of Spanish, was honored with the title of “Outstanding Instructor” for the competition.
SCBC Establishes School of Aviation Economics and Engineering
On the morning of April 25, the inauguration ceremony for the School of Aviation Economics and Engineering of SCBC, along with a high-level forum on the development of the low-altitude economy, was held in the International Academic Lecture Hall of Building H. Experts and scholars from universities in the aviation field, heads of industry associations, executives from aviation and technology companies, representatives of university-industry partnerships, SCBC chairman, SCBC leadership, and faculty representatives of and students gathered at the venue to jointly witness this significant moment, one that aligns with the national low-altitude economy strategy, optimizes the university’s disciplinary and program structure, and marks the beginning of a new chapter in SCBC’s development. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Zhang Hanlin, Executive President of SCBC.
Then, SCBC President Wang Hua noted that the establishment of the School of Aviation Economics and Engineering represents a key strategic move by SCBC to align with the national low-altitude economy strategy and meet the industrial needs of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. He expressed his hope that the new school would uphold its distinctive educational philosophy, deepen the integration of industry and education, and strengthen talent development, thereby cultivating more high-quality, practice-oriented professionals for the low-altitude economy sector and contributing to local development through its solid educational programs.

At the ceremony, the attending leaders and guests jointly unveiled the plaque of the School of Aviation Economics and Engineering. Professor Zhu Zijang, Assistant to the President, signed framework agreements for university-industry cooperation on behalf of SCBC with Guangzhou Baiyun Jianke Holdings Group, China Telecom Guangzhou Baiyun Branch, Baidu Paddle Paddle (Guangzhou) Artificial Intelligence Industry Empowerment Center, Guangzhou Chengzhi Intelligent Machinery Technology Co., Ltd., and Beijing Zhuoyi Intelligent Technology Co.,Ltd. SCBC President Wang Hua presented letters of appointment asvisiting professors to Professor Qin Rui of the Civil Aviation University of China and Professor Xie Hua of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and presented letters of appointment as industry professors to President Wu Wei and Yang Liao Yuan of Guangzhou Chengzhi Intelligent Machine Technology Co., Ltd., further strengthening SCBC’s academic and industry faculty.
In his opening remarks, SCBC Chairman Ding Xiaojun reflected on his deep-rooted connection to the aviation industry and stated that the establishment of the School of Aviation Economics and Engineering stemmed precisely from this original aspiration and sense of mission. SCBC will fully leverage its strengths in foreign languages and practical education, capitalizing on the strategic opportunities presented by the low-altitude aviation economy to drive innovation and upgrading across disciplines and programs. He expressed his hope that the new school, drawing on a team of high-caliber experts, would highlight its unique educational characteristics, focus on quality-driven development, and strive to establish a distinctive and high-caliber institution, thereby contributing the strength of SCBC to the nation’s aviation industry and local economic and social development.
Following this, the High-Level Forum on Low-Altitude Economic Development commenced, chaired by Professor Wang Guanyi, Vice President of SCBC. Professor Qin Rui from Civil Aviation University of China, Professor Liu Peng from Beihang University, Researcher Xie Hua from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Chief Analyst Fang Xiaoming from AVIC Securities, and Dean Ding Songbin of the School of Aviation Economics and Engineering of SCBC delivered keynote speeches in succession. Their presentations focused on topics including the construction of low-altitude transportation systems, technological trends, industry talent needs, opportunities in the capital market, and the development of academic programs, offering cutting-edge, practical, and highly instructive insights. In his concluding remarks, Wang Guanyi noted that the forum had established a high-level platform for academic exchange, fostering consensus and injecting strong momentum into the university’s efforts to develop low-altitude economy disciplines and cultivate talent.

The School of Aviation Economics and Engineering was restructured from the former School of Economics and represents a landmark initiative by the university to promote the deep integration of business and management with aviation engineering, thereby serving the national low-altitude economy strategy. The school will adopt a four-pronged educational framework centered on “engineering as the foundation, business and management as the driving force, foreign languages as the bridge, and professional certification as the gateway.” It aims to establish itself as a hub for talent development, a center for scientific research, and a think tank for policy consultation in the low-altitude economy of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, thereby contributing to the high-quality development of the regional low-altitude economy through its distinctive educational approach.

SCBC Student Long Yujie won the Bronze Award at NCSCPC
From April 22 to 25, the national finals of the 3rd National College Student Career Planning Competition (NCSCPC) were held in Tianjin. Long Yujie, a student from SCBC’s School of Computer Science, won a bronze medal at the national finals thanks to his outstanding performance, setting a new record for our university’s best-ever result in this competition. Co-hosted by the Ministry of Education and the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government, the competition attracted 20.55 million students from 2,833 universities, making it the largest and most prestigious career planning competition for college students in the country.
