SCBC Wins Five Awards in Outstanding Cases of Teaching Quality Management and Evaluation Reform in 2025
Recently, Professional Committee for Teaching Quality Management in Privately-funded Colleges and Universities of Guangdong Association of Higher Education announced the results of its Outstanding Cases of Teaching Quality Management and Evaluation Reform in 2025. SCBC secured five awards (one first prize, two third prizes, and two excellence awards, respectively),
Among these, the case titled “Constructionand Practice of an Index-Based Evaluation System for Undergraduate Education Quality in Privately-funded Universities” by Professor Li Huanrong's team from the Teaching Quality Supervision and Evaluation Center won the First Prize. The case “Building an Immersive Teaching Competency Development Model for English Teaching Methodology” by Zhao Yun's team from the School of Education, along with the case “Curriculum Teaching Reform and Practice for Kindergarten Education Activity Design and Implementation” by Weng Lin's team, both received Third Prizes; The case “Building an International Talent Cultivation System Under the CELC College English Learning Community Framework” by Yu Enze's team from the Department of College English Teaching and the case “From‘Tool Empowerment’ to ‘Ecosystem Reshaping’:Exploration and Practice of the ‘1+1’ Smart Teaching Model in University English”by Xu Xiufen's team received Excellence Awards.
SCBC Holds Awards Ceremony for Outstanding Student Collectives and Individuals
On the afternoon of December 31st, the Awards Ceremony for Outstanding Student Collectives and Individuals of the 2024–2025 Academic Year was held in the International Academic Lecture Hall. SCBC President Wang Hua and other leaders gathered with student representatives to witness this moment of honor.

19 students received the National Scholarship, 10 students received the President's Scholarship, 1092 students received the Comprehensive Scholarship for Outstanding Students, 523 students received the Single-Item Scholarship for Outstanding Students, and 2669 students were honored as “Model Triple-A Students,” “Triple-AStudents,” “Outstanding Social Work Members,” “Outstanding Student in Cultural and Sports Activities”, and “Outstanding Student in Academic Performance”. Additionally, 42 classes were honored as “Advanced Collectives”, and 21 classes received the title of “Collectives with Excellent Academic Atmosphere”.

During the volunteer service efforts for the 15th National Games and the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 9th National Special Olympic Games, SCBC volunteers demonstrated outstanding performance. A total of 116 individuals were honored withtitles “Outstanding Volunteer,” “Outstanding Volunteer Leader,” and “Advanced Individual in Publicity Work.”

SCBC Students Win Awards in GSPCC
Recently, the winners of the 19th Guangdong Science Popularization Creation Competition (GSPCC) were officially announced. Two video works guided by SCBC's Center of Polar Issues Studies stood out among 19,102 entries nationwide and achieved outstanding results. Among them, “Kick Out the ‘White Bear,’ Say Goodbye to Anxiety” created by SCBC students Chen Junhao, Lu Haitang, and Chen Yue was recognized as an Outstanding Work in the “Healthy China” Action Competition. Meanwhile, “Unleashing the Power of ‘Membranes,’ Talking About Environmental Protection in ‘Plastic’”(supervised by Lin Dan) created by SCBC students Chen Junhao, Wang Huaqing, and Liu Huiyi was honored as a winning entry in the competition.
SCBC Holds Low-Altitude Economy Industry-University-Research Symposium
On January 6, SCBC hosted a symposium on industry-university-research collaboration in low-altitude economy. Focusing on cutting-edge research and project implementation in this field, the event brought together government agencies, universities, and enterprises for in-depth discussions on core topics including technology application, talent cultivation, platform development, and business models. The symposium aimed to establish an integrated collaborative innovation system encompassing government, industry, academia, research, and application, laying a solid foundation for advancing the high-quality development of the low-altitude economy in the Guangdong-HongKong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
SCBC Teacher Publishes Research Findings in Journalism
On January 2, Dr. Zeng Yu from the School of Western Languages of SCBC published a research paper titled “Host Country Image Construction and News Rewriting: A Case Study of Spain’s Image in Ouhua News” in the internationally renowned academic journal Journalism. The journalis a leading publication in the field of journalism and communication studies, with an impact factor of 2.7 for 2025 and that factor over the past five years has been 3.5.
SCBC Wins Three Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards
Recently, the list of winners for the 2025 Provincial Outstanding Teaching Achievement Awards (Higher Education) was officially announced. All three teaching achievements submitted by SCBC made the list, achieving a historic breakthrough in winning provincial-level teaching awards with a 100% success rate. Among these, one project received the First Prize and two projects received the Second Prize. This achievement represents a landmark accomplishment in the SCBC’s educational and teaching work during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, marking a historic milestone.
SCBC Holds Summary and Evaluation Conference for the 14th Five-Year Plan
On the morning of January 6, SCBC convened the Summary and Evaluation Conference for the 14th Five-Year Plan in the International Academic Lecture Hall. The conference comprehensively reviewed the completion of all tasks and objectives during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, assessed the achievements of the development efforts, and simultaneously looked ahead to build consensus and clarify the direction for scientifically planning a new blueprint forhigh-quality development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. SCBC Chairman Ding Xiaojun, President Wang Hua, and all university leaders attended the meeting, along with related staff.
Heads of 12 teaching units took the stage to report on the implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan, focusing on unfinished tasks and their causes, and key priorities for the next phase.
ZhangYanfeng, Director of the Development and Planning Office, delivered a comprehensive report on the overall completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The report highlighted that over the past five years, SCBC anchored its efforts to the stated strategic objectives, focused on core indicators, rigorously implemented tasks, and tackled challenges head-on. Significant progress was achieved in talent cultivation, discipline development, scientific research, faculty development, infrastructure enhancement, and campus culture building, culminating in a successful conclusion of the 14th Five-Year Plan.
President Wang Hua announced that the draft of SCBC's 15th Five-Year Plan has been submitted to the Dual Representatives Conference for deliberation and approval, and will subsequently be reviewed by the senior leadership. Once the overall plan is finalized, relevant objectives and tasks must be broken down across all teaching, research and administrative units. All units must demonstrate a pioneering spirit, scientifically assess challenges and issues, and devise solutions to accomplish the established tasks. Additionally, teaching units and relevant departments should promptly complete subsidiary and specialized plans aligned with the 15thth Five-Year Plan, ensuring seamless integration and continuity with the overarching strategy. This unified approach will propel SCBC’s high-quality development with a forward-thinking mindset.
