Nanchang Jiaotong Institute Visits SCBC
On the morning of December 26, Chen Lei, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanchang Jiaotong Institute, led a delegation to visit SCBC. The visit centered on in-depth discussions regarding core topics including campus development, distinctive educational approaches, industry-education integration, and Party building work, aiming to foster mutual learning and collaborative development. Professor Zhao Fuchun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of SCBC, along with heads of relevant functional departments, received the delegation. Both parties held a symposium in the International Conference Hall.

Zhao Fuchun delivered a welcoming address on behalf of SCBC, outlining its overall profile through three dimensions: development strategy and institutional characteristics, high-quality talent cultivation models, and the recruitment of high-caliber faculty.

Subsequently, heads of key functional departments from SCBC engaged in in-depth discussions with the Nanchang Jiaotong Institute delegation on critical topics including national first-class discipline development, the distinctive “foreign language + major” talent cultivation model, student internships, practical training, and employment, as well as faculty development. Participants shared practical experiences while jointly exploring challenges and uncertainties encountered in development, fostering a lively, pragmatic exchange atmosphere.

SCBC Holds the Forth Faculty and Union Member Congress
On December 25-26, the Third Session of the Fourth Faculty and Union Member Congress was held in the International Academic Lecture Hall. A total of 124 official delegates and 32 non-voting attendees from all departments of SCBC gathered to hear and deliberate on the work report and union work report, review the draft of the SCBC's 15th Five-Year Plan, vote on relevant resolutions, and collectively chart a blueprint for the university's high-quality development while rallying momentum for progress. Vice President Wang Mingyu presided over the meeting.

President Wang Hua delivered the work report titled “Strengthening Foundations, Enhancing Quality, Activating Innovation, and Striving Toward a New Journey as a High-Level Applied University.” The report systematically reviewed the achievements made across all university operations over the past year. It clarified that SCBC's work in 2026 will focus on “resolve, vitality, strength, and synergy,” laying the groundwork for the 15th Five-Year Plan and striving toward a new journey as a high-level applied university.

Deputy Party Secretary, Vice President, and Union Chair Zhao Fuchun delivered the work report on behalf of the SCBC union. The report highlighted the union's efforts over the past year to deepen democratic management, streamline channels for faculty and staff concerns, organize cultural and sports activities, and provide support services, actively fulfilling its role as a “family member.” Moving forward, the union will continue to focus on democratic management, service support, and cultural development to contribute to SCBC's high-quality growth.

Gao Caiyun, a member of the SCBC Union, provided a detailed update on the handling of proposals and suggestions from the Second Session of the Fourth Faculty and Staff Congress, as well as the outcomes of proposal collection for this session. Zhang Yanfeng, Director of the Development Planning Office, presented an explanatory statement on the drafting of the university's 15th Five-Year Plan. Developed based on extensive research and in corporating over 200 suggestions from faculty, students, alumni, and various sectors of society, the plan provides a clear development blueprint for the next five years.
During the group discussion session, delegates engaged in vigorous discussions on the two reports and the draft plan, actively offering suggestions on key issues such as discipline development, talent cultivation, faculty team building, campus governance, and safeguarding staff rights. Delegation leaders Wang Liming, Wang Jizhou, Wen Binli, and Zhang Yanfeng reported on the deliberations within their respective groups. Delegates unanimously agreed that the reports were pragmatic and the planning objectives were clear, expressing their commitment to earnestly implement the meeting's spirit.
All attendees unanimously agreed to adopt the proposals of the university work report, the union work report, and the draft 15th Five-Year Plan.
Zhao Fuchun delivered the closing address, emphasizing that the dual-delegate conference serves as a vital platform for the university's democratic governance. He urged delegates to take the lead in promoting the conference spirit, actively fulfill their duties, and drive the implementation of proposed recommendations. He called upon all faculty and staff to regard this conference as a new starting point, working together to turn the 15th Five-Year Plan blueprint into reality and jointly embark on a new journey toward building a high-level applied university.
SCBC Students Win Second Prize in the NAADC
Recently, the winners of the 2025 17th National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students (NAADC) were officially announced. A team comprising five students from the Art of Broadcasting and Hosting (2023) program at SCBC's School of Culture and Communication—Zhang Yingjie, Liang Xiyang, Chen Baoyi, Chen Siqi, and Gong Zheng—stood out in the fiercely competitive Marketing Innovators Micro-Video category. Their outstanding work earned them the National Second Prize.
SCBC Professors Ranked Top 1% Highly Cited Scholars in 2025
Recently, China Scientometrics and Bibliometrics Research Center under CNKI released the “2025 National Highly Cited Scholars” list. This recognition aims to honor scholars who have made significant contributions across various disciplines and provide valuable references for young scholars in terms of recognition and career development, thereby collectively promoting the flourishing of academic research in China.
Professor Wang Mingyu, Vice President of SCBC and Director of South China Semiotics Research Center and Vice President Professor Zeng Yongqiang were both selected as a 2025 National Highly Cited Scholar in the Foreign Languages and Literature field, ranking in the top 1%. Professor Li Jianying, retired from SCBC's School of Economics, was recognized as a 2025 Highly Cited Scholar in the Taxation field, ranking in the top 5%.
The selection of the “2025 National Highly Cited Scholars” adheres to the overarching principles of “focusing on high-impact achievements” and “quantifying contributions.” The selection metric is the author's total PCSI (Paper Citation Standardized Index). The statistical scope covers journal articles and conference papers indexed by CNKI from 2015 to 2024, with a PCSI exceeding 1.65.
Professor Li Chunmei, Vice Dean of School of English, collaborated with Professor Wen Qiufang from Beijing Foreign Studies University on the paper “A Theoretical Model of Meta-Professional Ability of Highly-Motivated Young College English Teachers” (Foreign Language World, Issue 2, 2020). This work was selected as a high-PCSI paper in CNKI's Academic Essentials (November-December 2025). This demonstrates our university's accumulated strength in research and the expanding influence of our researchers year by year.
SCBC Holds Wisdom Connects the Future AI Forum
On December 27, the “Wisdom Connect the Future AI Forum” hosted by SCBC and co-organized by the School of Computer Science of SCBC, the Digital Science and Technology Branch of Guangdong Association of Higher Education, and Ubiquitous Object Digitization Engineering Research Center of Guangdong Province, was successfully held. Experts, scholars, faculty, and student representatives from both within and outside the university gathered to exchange insights and explore innovative pathways and practical directions for integrating AI with multidisciplinary fields.

Professor Wang Hua, President of SCBC, delivered the opening address. He emphasized that SCBC remains committed to serving the national innovation and development strategy, deepening the construction of AI disciplines, and actively promoting the cross-disciplinary integration of AI with fields such as foreign languages, business, and engineering. The forum, he noted, represents a significant initiative to build an academic exchange platform and gather innovative wisdom, which will undoubtedly inject new momentum into the high-quality development of disciplines.
During the keynote session, several top scholars from the industry shared their insights. Presentations by Professor Weng Jian from Jinan University, Professor Xiong Jiang and Professor Feng Yuming from Chongqing Three Gorges University, Researcher Wang An from Shandong Provincial Macroeconomic Research Institute, Professor Lin Weiwei from South China University of Technology, and Professor Qi Deyu from the SCBC Institute of Digitization Science and Technology resonated strongly with the audience.

Two parallel sub-forums were held concurrently in the afternoon, focusing on “Intelligent Computing and Future Algorithms” and “AI-Empowered Industry Innovation,” respectively. The sesessions achieved mutual advancement in both foundational technology exploration and industry application practices. The sub-forums featured lively discussions, with experts offering precise insights during the commentary and summary sessions. Participants freely exchanged views in the open discussion segments, forging consensus through intellectual exchanges and generating a series of valuable research outcomes.
Professor Zhu Zijang, Dean of the School of Computer Science, presided over the closing ceremony, where the chairs of both sub-forums presented their discussion outcomes. Dean Zhu congratulated the forum on its successful conclusion, noting that it achieved dual objectives of academic exchange and resource sharing. The event not only established a cross-disciplinary collaboration platform for experts both within and outside the university but also significantly advanced the development of artificial intelligence and related disciplines at the institution. It laid a solid foundation for cultivating interdisciplinary AI talent and serving regional economicand social development.

SCBC Hosts 2026 Faculty New Year Gala
On the evening of December 30th, the 2026 Faculty New Year Gala of SCBC was held at the gymnasium. University leaders and all faculty members gathered together to celebrate the New Year. With the theme “Honoring Three Decades of Brilliance, Embarking on a New Journey,” the gala featured song and dance performances and other segments, vividly presenting auniquely “Professional Excellence Showcase.” Various unions infused their professional expertise into stage performances, vibrantly showcasing the enthusiastic spirit of SCBC faculty excelling in their roles while demonstrating diverse talents. Amidst laughter and cheer, all faculty and staff collectively expressed their heartfelt wishes for the university as it approaches its 30th anniversary.
